Snoring: A Sign of Serious Health Problems?

There's nothing like a good night's sleep, but for people with obstructive sleep apnea, decent shut-eye is hard to get. They snore and even stop breathing repeatedly during the night. The result? Daytime sleepiness, yes, but also serious health issues like heart disease.

Elementary school principal Todd Kieffer knew he had a problem when his snoring kept his entire family from sleeping. After testing, he was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. Now, Kieffer wears a CPAP mask, a device that provides air pressure while he breathes, which keeps the back of his throat open and his snoring to a minimum.
